Sunday, July 27, 2008 @6:11 PM

here we go, another meme because i find them very fun and truly enjoy it:

1. Name a movie you have seen more than 10 times.
not sure i've actually seen a movie more than 10 times but i'm pretty sure Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers come pretty close. as well as Harry Potter and Sorcerer Stone and finally The Legend of Zorro. - don't ask and i don't tell.

2. Name a movie you've seen multiple times in the theater.
Harry Potter and The Globet of Fire - i only watched it twice, and it's only because i was treated both times. however, i think i'm going to watch The Dark Knight again, this time on IMAX.

3. Name an actor who would make you more inclined to see a movie.
Ryan Gosling- i realised i actually watched all his movies. and remembered i begged my mum to go and see Murder By Numbers with me because i wanted to see that pretty actor when i was younger. but there are a couple of actors out there whom i would watch for as well. Christian Bale for one, remember borrowing all his movies. to a certain extent Johnny Depp and Natalie Portman. oh, and of course James Marsters - though i've yet to watch P.S. I Love You. Edward Norton except for The Hulk. Matt Damon.

4. Name an actor who would make you less likely to see a movie.
Eddie Murphy? maybe. i know my mum hates Jim Carrey movies though.

5. Name a movie you can and do quote from
The Dark Knight - only because it is damn recent. "why so serious?"
additional info: i can quote Fight Club as well.

6. Name a movie musical in which you know all of the lyrics to all of the songs
the only one that came close is probably RENT.

7. Name a movie you have been known to sing along with
RENT.

8. Name a movie you would recommend everyone see.
where do i start? i love the sharing of people's favourite movies.

9. Name a movie you own.
Untergang, Der

10. Name an actor who launched his/her entertainment career in another medium but who has surprised you with his/her acting chops.
Justin Timberlake - he can act. watch Alpha Dog my friends.

11. Have you ever seen a movie in a drive-in? If so, what?
nope.

12. Ever made out in a movie?
never have, never will. movies cost a bomb.

13. Name a movie you keep meaning to see but you just haven't gotten around to yet.
Goodfellas.

14. Ever walked out of a movie?
never, although i would have for Enchanted and Spiderwick Chronicles because, just because- but my friends were there, it was fun at the end though.

15. Name a movie that made you cry in the theater
I Not Stupid. -it was between laughing and crying, i freely admit that because i saw my mum crying next to me as well.

16. Popcorn?
either that or nachos.

17. How often do you go to the movies (as opposed to renting them or watching them at home)?
seldom, unless i want the sound effects to explode with surround sound or the action is worth it.

18. What's the last movie you saw in the theater?
The Dark Knight

19. What's your favorite/preferred genre of movie?
indie, suspense, action

20. What's the first movie you remember seeing in the theater?
officially? - The Mummy.
unoffcially? - Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

21. What movie do you wish you had never seen?
none.

22. What is the weirdest movie you enjoyed?
My Own Private Idaho- the whole concept is weird.

23. What is the scariest movie you've seen?
huh. any scary movie in my life, but the most recent: Exorcism of Emily Rose. *shudders*

24. What is the funniest movie you've seen?
can't remember.

Wednesday, July 23, 2008 @12:27 AM

well, just got back from watching The Dark Knight. Heath Ledger? was absolutely awesome and it actually made me miss the actor. i think the only other actor that made me miss him was River Phoenix, because aside from his pretty looks that guy could act.

The Joker as put it in liz words 'charismatic' i'll add it the word 'demented.' so he is both charismatic and demented and i just loved how much The Joker was/is publicized. i think the big hoo-har of the show is definitely The Joker as the rest of the story was probably ordinary and slightly draggy just like Batman Begins. sure, there's a little more action in this film but that's about it although i do like how they discuss how humans can be so cruel and so kind at the same time.

i'm going to build a shrine for heath ledger now. i tend to get a little obsessive occasionally, so stop me if i do.

Tuesday, July 22, 2008 @8:11 PM

it's been awhile- but because of the overload of work and the constant procrastinating- i am able to update now.

"Don't walk in front of me, I may not follow.
Don't walk behind me, I may not lead.
Walk beside me and be my friend."

- Albert Camus (also attributed to Maimonidies). Sent by clovers

i love my little ramblings with cel, i needn't censor myself because she's use to my vulgarities and understanding half of my life ( the other half is because she is part of that life). and sometimes i feel that i don't appreciate her fully. and that works with my other friends. i'm so caught up with my projects that occasionally i forget the 'how are you?' despite always wanting to keep in contact with the people who had brightened up my day one way or another. my mum often tells me i have a precious/talented/intelligent group of friends and she's always awed by them, i don't blame her, i'm often awed myself even though i know them better than her. she said that's why she treats them as equal and don't look down upon them just because they're younger than her a decade or so and actually respects them. -and this is why i think my mum can occasionally be very cool.

there are times when i think to myself 'what did i do to deserve this?' and wonder 'what role do i play in their lives?' i figured this doesn't matter, but when they need me to be part of my lives i'm just there. we wonder what friendship is about and often question ourselves whether we're good enough friends. i supposed when we have that balance we all are.

backstabbing, betrayal etc. have made us eluded that out there, somewhere, there are people who can be friends.

"sometimes, trying not to wish too much is when you find everything in one."

Thursday, July 17, 2008 @12:24 AM

being down the mighty grain post-feelings things has been looking up. projects are piling high and i'm learning new skills along the way.

has anything bothered you in your life that is a nagging feeling within the midst of your chest where you feel ill or mightily depressed because of something that had happened? - or rather something that didn't happened. and when something happens, no matter how small it turns the spinning bread where everything seems fine. just like a snap of the fingers. amazing how moods can change within seconds of our eternal life. we choose to feel what we feel, but occasionally we can't because we're so affected with everything around us.

life is tough, but we try to continue to survive because in life we can't just stay dead all the time.

somethings are just easier said then done

Ten things that I love that begin with R, in no particular order:

1. Rain - I don't know, it's just a melancholy feeling.
2. Ryan Gosling - Pretty and extraordinary actor.
3. Rain Man -wonderful film by Barry Levinson. acted by Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise.
4. RENT - the film because i have yet to watch the musical.
5. Reading - i can be a book nerd. not to mention a fiction lover.
6. Roads - aside from being essential in our lives, the road has a lot of other phrase that goes along with it. i.e. Road Trip - a wish that i would do it soon.
7. Rich - rich has so many variations. it is one of the greatest word.
8. Red - i just love the colour red. and it can be used to describe so many emotions.
9. Malcolm "Mal" Reynolds - okay, i admit i cheated for this one but damn, he is very charismatic and deserves to be on the list. a character from the TV series Firefly and its sequel film Serenity.
10. River Tam - kick ass girl. a character from Serenity and Firefly.

@12:38 AM

it's been awhile, but i decided i needed a break from all the recent emotional turmoil that happened within my sensitive/insecure self.

thank god for Christian Kane and Kansas. they're on my playlist and they're soaring my spirits up.

whoever wise one said that music defines the mood is so right because they really do.

country music really works wonders despite popular saying they are 'emo' songs. acoustic guitars and guitar rifts; sometimes i wish i'm a natural pro.

I've taken more than I've been given
I've taken for granted this life I'm livin'
I don't know why heaven above
Blessed me with your sweet love
Though I never tell you what you're worth
It's more than I deserve
-More Than I Deserve, Christian Kane (KANE)

guilt strangles me occasionally. so are the worrisome techniques of gossip.

Carry on my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more
-Carry On My Wayward Son, Kansas.

my new favourite song on my playlist! goodbye Daughtry.
it's catchy, unique and a whole genre by itself.
i initially heard this song from a trailer for Supernatural and thought how the song suited Dean so well; especially the refrains.

Sunday, July 06, 2008 @11:33 PM

when i saw The Joker on the magazine rack, i immediately knew i had to buy at least one magazine containing him, and i picked FIRST because it has all the gory details on Joker. my mum supportingly bought it for me and currently i can't wait to read the ten pages dedicated to the Joker himself and the other characters of The Dark Knight. it is probably the most anticipated movie of the year since i've been hearing of it when the sequel was announced. sneaks were already out on youtube way before this year. i just caught the recent trailer and i'm sorry to say but the theatrical trailer is probably the one that put the interest in me for both The Joker and The Dark Knight.

17 July 2008; can't wait!

the above mentioned my mum, whom i have to say has been greatly supportive recently regarding my life choices of entering fsv. i was surprised how well she seems to take things in stride regarding my course and it seems now she understand my choices despite not favouring it initially. it is definitely satisfactory when your mum understands what you want in life and i'm happy that my dad has been always willing to help me out and support in what i do. i guess that's why i respect my parents so much no matter how annoying i find they are occasionally and how sometimes i filter out their naggings.

costfest 2008 was actually pretty impressive this year. there were some repeats, (which seems to be a common trait) but all in all it was about a thousand times better than last year. i think it helped that i went on the second day instead of the first where there were more activities.

the most impressive costume of all, i have to say was Iron Man. the suit was almost identical to the original one where there were lights at the correct places. there was a nice touched up of police surrounding it acting as a body guard and some play time soldiers around it to act as the terrorist exactly alike the movie. i was highly impressed and took a number of photos of it to show it to my brother who went like 'wow!'

after stuffing myself with a full meal buffet, i have to say that this was probably one of the more enjoyable days of my life -which shows how much life i have- but it was great and played my mind at rest.

Saturday, July 05, 2008 @5:59 PM

i've finally watched The Shawshank Redemption. and by god, i really loved it. i think i fell in love with Tim Robbins when watching it and finally understood why it's rated as one of the greatest film of all time.

touching, heartfelt, occasional good wit, heartbreaking, thrilling, excellent acting and a more than satisfactory ending.

it's number 2 on the imdb list and i feel that it definitely deserves it's placing. i really enjoyed Tim Robbins acting and now i can understand why he is such a renowned actor. i didn't think much when i saw Mystic River, but now, he is probably going to be one of my all time favourite actors.

admittedly, looking at the story as a whole, you wouldn't think is that a fantastic plot. however, the tiny details of life in the prison brings reality straight up to your face. the cruelty of the warden showing how manipulative authoritative figures could be and people will conform to these figures as by law we should not disobey them (mates, social psychology). the twisted path we face in our lives and how sometimes when we have to forgo our inner shell just to face the outside world.

The Shawshank Redemption my friends, you have to watch it to understand it.

1 more down, 77 to go!

Friday, July 04, 2008 @9:44 PM

emo: "Emo is a broad title that covers a lot of different styles of emotionally-charged punk rock. - fourfa

i never knew that 'emo' is actually a genre for punk rock. i realised people often misuse the word usually using it in the context of a person being depressed (albeit, it is technically correct as well).
well, referring it to this context (depressed) it seems as though 'emo' has strangely become a trend. from a fashion statement - dark gothic looks with fishnets and hand socks- to a sadistic pleasure in hurting oneself-wrist cutting. it is rather disturbing that it has come to a point where wrist cutting has become 'cool'. well let me warn you; it is not.

there are people out there who does suffer from depression and has to resort in acting out. wrist cutting is not a fashion statement as some young ones seem to think. (note on how i emphasize on some)

gothic looks probably came from the latest trend of j-rock, although believe it or not gothic was popular much earlier on and existed until the late 1990s- many who were interested indie emo . it was not until recent years that 'goth' became popular again and now wherever i go i'll never fail to see people wearing thick layers of mascara with an accessory that is black to define their style.

many of the story lines we see these days are often morbid and even a little warped; depressing with psychological turnovers. it can be enticingly exciting yet tremendously disturbing depending on how screwed the concept is. yet these people are often the nicest people you can find on this earth, where they are understanding and sensitive to those that are around them.

the 'emo' trend seems to be popular with teens and young adults in the 21st century and i wonder how long this will last and definitely question what's the next trend will be.

we'll see this again in a year later or so.
